2020 TAX YEAR

GUIDELINES

To All Friends and Clients of Shreeve Landry:

 

What a crazy year 2020 has been! It feels like a lifetime ago when COVID went from being a rumored illness to something very serious that hits close to home and has altered so many of our lives. To those of you who have experienced loss of friends, family, or business due to this pandemic, we mourn with you. We know it hasn’t been easy.

 

Life has been flipped upside down and all of the sudden we are changing the way we live. New terms like “Social Distancing”, “Zoom Meeting”, and “Contactless Service” are common in our daily vocabulary.  Terms that, for many of us, were foreign until just a few months ago.

 

Similar to other businesses throughout the world, we’ve implemented some safety measures. Luckily for us, “Contactless Service” is something we’ve been providing for many of our clients for nearly a decade. For many accounting firms, this has been a difficult transition, but we have the tools that will make your “Contactless Service” a cinch. 

 

The process is simple and you’ll find that this is the easiest and safest way to have your taxes filed. We’ve created a video that shows you how easy it is. However, in a nutshell, here is how a typical Contactless Tax Filing would be facilitated:

 

  1. Request an invitation to our secure Client Portal system. 

    1. You can request an invitation by emailing Admin@shreevelandry.com or by calling 801-683-9232.

    2. An email address is needed for this step so please use an email address that you use regularly. 

  2. Once you’ve created your login, you can use the Client Portal to upload your tax documents.

    1. Uploading your documents can be done from either your computer or a smart phone.  the Canopy Client Portal App available for free in either Android or Apple.

    2. We strongly recommend downloading the Canopy Client Portal phone app through either the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. Uploading your tax docs using your phone is convenient since you can use your smartphone’s camera to upload pictures of your W2s, 1099s, and other tax docs easily. 

  3. Tell us once you’ve got everything uploaded. An email, a phone call, or a text is all we need. That will let us know when to get started. 

    1. We will reach out to you with any questions or concerns during the process of preparing your tax filing.

  4. When we are done, we will upload a copy of your return to your account in the Client Portal where you can review it at your convenience.

    1. You can then schedule a phone call or video conference to review your return with us.

    2. Scheduling that appointment can be done via our website or by calling/texting our main office line.

  5. Once you are ready to file, we will email you an invoice and the signature forms. All of which can be paid and signed digitally.
